Overview
The building is a 5 level structure, including the basement car parking floor. It was previously used as 2 Degrees headquarter, and then later purchased by our client in conjunction with NMIT to fully refurbish and modernise the entire building for a tertiary education centre.
This project involved complete re-fitting of all floors, along with full exterior modernisation.
Solution
For this exciting project, The DESIGNFIRE provided a full fire engineering design service. This included – Review of existing structure, initial fire engineering briefing, Preparation of project fire report, Passive fire design and also emergency lighting design. Due to the urgent nature of the project, we negotiated with Council to have our fire design peer-reviewed and dealt with high-risk fast track process.
A significant change in the structural design was proposed to give the building a clean, stylish and contemporary look. Review of façade design was also thoroughly reviewed for fire design compliance.
In Detail
This project was constructed in an extremely tight time frame, and the construction was underway at the same time as staged consenting. THE DESIGNFIRE has managed to meet this programme successfully.
